Where Leaders Make Success Happen!

Our 21st November chapter meeting was kick-started by Sergeant-At-Arms Maria, who invited  everyone to share an embarrassing moment in their lives. Some talked about wardrobe malfunction and a few about how forgetfulness made them call people by the wrong name. Benjamin had everyone in stitches when recounting a performance at a recent Halloween party, where he was dressed as an Egyptian prince. A misstep during his dance performance made his pants split, exposing ugly underwear. Peter topped that by recounting his embarrassing moment in Japan when he went to a mixed bath and accidentally exposed his birthday suit to a passing lady. Club President shared about her recent involvement at the Semi Annual Convention. She gained valuable insights as one of the committee members helping to organize the convention. She was especially inspired by Stephanie Fam, a 28-year-old lady, who despite her cerebral palsy, went on stage to present a speech that left many teary.  In her own words, &q

Snippets from the Harmony convention

As a Toastmaster, it ’ s likely you have heard the encouraging feedback about the recently concluded  Semi- Annual convention 2013, held on 16 th  November, with more than 500 delegates  in   the ballroom of Chui Huay Lim Club. Organizing Team Leader, DTM Yeo Chai Tun, said he could possibly write a book based on the team ’ s encounters in the journey . He suggested the idea that his committee members could script their experiences as speeches. Here I am, a good team mate to them and they to me. I walked into my first meeting with the Harmony committee on 11 May,  a Saturday morning. It was held in District 80 Governor, Pradeep Kumar ’ s work office.  I was a new face among the heavyweight officers . I knew the role as one of the committee members in this district convention would offer valuable insights. I accepted the marathon challenge for myself. The countdown of months and weeks saw  our Sunday meetings drag longer as the report pages  were ever increasing .
