4Ps to Success

Sergeant-At-Arms Maria welcomed everyone and invited us to share our New Year Resolutions in 2013 and  whether we achieved them. She shared about her father's health challenges and how coming to know God made a huge difference for him. Leena signed up to teach  students in Batam and has been doing it monthly. Choon Liang attained his CC title, got married and is getting his new  house keys (read: housewarming party!!). Geri ran a half marathon in less than 1.5 hours (1 hour and 29 minutes to be exact). Shahnawaz won two contests last year -  Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contests and was recently promoted at work. Language Evaluator Vera delineated the purpose of Language Evaluation for the benefits of guests: to highlight good use of English, correct language mistakes and to introduce a Word of the Day to expand our vocabulary. M e r r y C h r i s t m a s a n d H a p p y N e w Y e a r ! On 19 December 2013, we had our annual Joint Meeting with Brilliant Advanced Toastmasters Club. The meeting started with an icebreaker game Christmas Bingo where participants had to go around the room to find 9 different people who had done Christmas shopping, owned a Christmas album, had ever built a snowman, baked Christmas cookies and could name the presents the wisemen gave to baby Jesus (gold, frankincense and myrrh), among other things. And the winners were Dilya, Timothy and Ida! Opening Address Club President Ida enjoys a yinyang drink (made of 3/4 tea and 1/4 coffee) with kaya toast for breakfast.  She likens a group of people working together like the yinyang drink - everyone contributes something different to make a great blend.
