Life is a DIY Project

P3 Get to the Point speech by Shahnawaz: An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer his plans to leave the house bu ilding business and live a leisurely life w ith his wife and family. He would of course miss his payc heck, but he w ould get by. The builder was sorry to see his favorite worker go and asked him if he could build one last house for him as a personal favor. The carpenter succumbs to years of loyalty and said yes, but it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished the house in few months, the builder came to inspect the house , the builder then hand ed over the front-door key of the house to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you." What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known that he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently

My Childhood Days in the Kampong

Project 1 The Icebreaker speech by Lynn Tiang: Good Evening, fellow members and guests. My name is Lynn Tiang and I am very grateful to be given this opportunity to stand before you to introduce myself. Today, I would like to share with you my CHILDHOOD DAYS IN THE KAMPONG Any of our friends here do not know what is ‘kampong’ ? Kampong is a Malay word which means village. I grew up in a small Kampong called Setiawan in Malaysia. Setiawan ; origin:Malay, a portmanteau of Setia Kawan , meaning "Loyal Friend". I was a very adorable little girl when I was young, but I had very boyish personalities. Why do I say so? I played basketball with boys not girls, because I thought the girls were too weak. I climbed trees to be Tarzan but not Jane. I reared colorful fighting fishes in glass container like other boys; I caught small little black fighting spiders at the back yardand kept them in the match boxes. I could even differentiate the male from female spiders. For fighting

2Get & 2Give vs 4Get & 4Give

SYNOPSIS FOR CHAPTER MEETING 21 JUNE 2012 Malcolm kicked off the meeting by asking what was everyone's favourite seafood. Some love salmon sushimi (Lynn), some are lobster lovers, prawn lovers (Joni, Benjamin Gan, James, Roann), others crave oysters (Brian), salted-egg crab (Seh Leng, Abraham) and chilli crab (Shahnawaz). In her Opening Address, outgoing President Ida encouraged us to "talk the talk and walk the walk", to step out and reach out to others when the situation requires it. Leadership is action in progress. She shared an insightful mathematical equation: " 2Get and 2Give creates many problems. Just double it... 4Get & 4Give solves many problems. " She offered an alternative equation: " 2Get & 2Give creates opportunities; 4Get & 4Give creates possibilities. " At the New Members Induction, we officially welcomed Shamala and Lynn to our club. They were presented with Eric Feng's book Get to the Point as a token of welcome.
