NEW BEGINNINGS - EXCO INSTALLATION 2021-2022

Our club enjoyed a new beginning as we held our first physical meeting at Katong Community Centre on 15 July 2021 after more than a year of online meetings and it was amazing!

We were delighted to have Division Z Director Yip Lixian conduct the EXCO installation. Our new EXCO team consists of Joni, Rachel, Emi, Haifa, Swarna, Eliz and Fook Tiang.
Three speakers were featured:
1. Wanxuan's Icebreaker speech “Words of wisdom”
She’s a Malaysian who came to Singapore to study 9 years ago and is currently working in an architectural firm.
2. Chu Fook Tiang's speech “A New Beginning”
He is a free-lance Tourist Guide who is licensed to conduct guided tours in four languages: English, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia.
3. Geri's speech “This purpose stuff? It’s hard!!”
She is a chocoholic who recently realised that no, eating chocolate doesn’t count as a life’s purpose.
Our three evaluators Lydia, Yau Hong and Linda gave insightful and impactful feedback to affirm and help our speakers improve.
Table Topics Session led by Rachel was choke-full of topics about inspiring quotes and powerful questions that get you thinking about your purpose of life!
Here is are some examples:
What if life had a restart button? Will you press it?
Would you go back to the past or go to the future?
Is there something you have dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven't you done it?
"The struggles we endure today will be the 'good old days' we laughed about tomorrow" -Aaron Lauritsen
If you could wake up tomorrow having gain 1 quality or ability, what would it be?
If you have 1 million dollars to spend, what would you do with it?
Would you travel to the past or to the future?
How would you respond to these interesting topics?

3 TIPS ON USING ALLITERATIVE TRIADS

Alliteration refers to the repetition of the beginning sounds of words, as in "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers", "long-lived", "short shrift" and "the fickle finger of fate". (from dictionary.com) A triad is a group of three, especially of three closely related persons or things. (from dictionary.com) Put the two together and you get   ALLITERATIVE TRIADS , that means groups of three words beginning with the same sounds.  I love alliterative triads. I like to use them in my speeches and evaluations. It helps me to remember my points easily too! Here are 3 tips on making alliterative triads work for you. (1) Use alliterative triads as heading for the points in your speech.  Let's say in your speech, you want to share three points.
